State of the blog

Filed under: Short Circuitedhikago @ 2:03 pm

I almost forgot about the blog… OTL

For the past few weeks I’ve been playing a lot of tda dota with friends, but now that The Burning Crusade has been released, looks like they’re all back to the old grind. >_>

So until I cave in and get the expansion too, I’m going to have a lot more time to work on vectors and watch anime again. That means a lot more posts!! woooot. >_> <_<

Will insert random wallpaper here when I get home.

The World Spins but I Stood Still

Filed under: Le's Corner, Short Circuitedlsun @ 1:18 pm

Long story short, my video card crapped out and I am without my precious for 4-8 weeks. Any of its replacements is like… some sort of time-space-flux-capasitor-continium-jumbo-thingy where you watch for trillions of years as the universe collapse onto itself - not fun.

Maybe it’s not that bad of a thing.

Maybe I can take this opportunity to put some work into this website. After all, I am posting something.
Maybe I’ll take less than a year to finish 3 panels of sketches. You know… when you start to notice stylistic differences between the panels of the same comic.

Maybe I can do something productive with my time for once. Like that script I’ve been meaning to start for a few years.

Maybe [your favorite sports team] will actually win for once.

Who knows? We’ll see where I’m at next week.

The Ongoing History of Short-Circuited

Filed under: Short Circuitedlsun @ 5:34 pm

Here it is, the post i’ve long procrastinated.

So after many days of hard work, I’ve finally finished the first panel of the first comic of what will become the short-circuited series. As soon as I make some finishing touches, I’m going to trace my sketch, scan it, and send it over to Sam for some inking and maybe colouring.

The idea of Short-Circuited started some time towards the end of the second school term when the bunch of us got together to study for our finals. (Naturally, our productivity left a lot to be desired.) I believe it was Jon who first brought up the idea of starting up a web comic. We were no strangers to the world of web comics as we’ve all visited these websites frequently. (peticularly Penny-Arcade, which I’ll admit has a heavy pressence in my comics) Since Sam refused to acknowledge that he has the artistic potential to take up the challenge, I would take his honourable place. The night before my Calculus final, the very first sketch was created on the back of my calculus notes. It a series of conversations between Sam, Jon, and an employee of Blizzard Entertainment. A week later on the night before my anthropology final, the second sketch was made featuring Sam and Mellisa Melissa, and with some rather violent results.

Surprisingly, I failed 2 courses that term.

Look who fell off the coconut tree

Great! I’m glad to see this website is finally up and for the most part, operational. (After a whole month of inactivity. *scratches balls). The last (and only) entry to my computer that has to do with Short-Circuited was in fact dated some time in the last year. We’re still using the default colours and layout that I think came with the blogging software, which I hope to be rid of as soon as possible. Also, once we get a decent amount of comics/illustrations up, I think it’d be nice to have a better archiving system to make them a little easier to access. Of course, having not done any of the server admin stuff myself(not that I really know how to), I have no idea how easy it would be.

That’s some pretty nice wallpaper work from Sam. *Applaude. (just too bad it’s anime :p) Personally, I would never have enough patience to put so much work into vectoring a single piece of art. By now, he has had more experience with illustrator than I’ll ever hope to achieve. <3 I will have to let him do most of the inking for this comic.
