Hand Grenades and Gasoline

Filed under: Le's Corner, Movieslsun @ 2:23 pm

I have a confession. I am a cinephile. I love movies. I love watching them. I love talking about them. I love everything there is that has anything to do with them. Living the life of a cinephile, I started off by watching large budget Hollywood movies, moved onto classics, and then developed a specific taste for certain genres and subject matters, and all of a sudden, I have an opinion about what I watch. Eventually, I would like to make something of my own, because after all, in the words of a wise French man, more or less, the greatest form of criticism is to make a film yourself.

Paying Tribute Where It’s Due

Filed under: Le's Corner, Movieslsun @ 11:07 pm

While I was filling out some information on Facebook, I came across the favorites section, and naturally, they have a section where I get to list my favorite movies. Neat! right? Well, it turned out to be a lot harder than I thought. There is just an abundance of great movies out there and leaving any of them out would somehow imply that they’re any worse than the ones who made it on the list. If I am going to show my appreciation of all these films, I need more space than the tiny box on Facebook. I need some place where I can write whatever I am with no restriction. If only I had… like a blog… or something.

Disgusting

They’re everywhere.

They’re in your neighborhood. They go to your restaurants. They’re on your bus. You can’t avoid them. They have four eyes, two mouths, eight tentacles that wrap around themselves, and thrives in a pool of narcissistic self-indulgence. They’re absolutely disgusting.

To learn more about these… creatures, you can Google it, or alternatively, click on this link.

The Creepy Blonde Chick

Filed under: Movieslsun @ 2:28 pm

Having not read any of the books, I don’t consider myself a Harry Potter fan. I do enjoy, however, the film adaptation of the saga. They belong to a category of mainstream film spawned by Hollywood, typically with high production value, romanticized heroes, and never pausing for a second to let anyone absorb the subtext. They are easy films to watch, and perhaps my guilty pleasures. When presented with the choice between Order of the Phoenix and Babel, I thought I’ll save Babel for a different day.

The Order of the Phoenix gets right to the point. Wasting no time on introductions, (and with four movies, Harry needs none) the inciting incident occurs literally within thirty seconds of the opening title sequence. (To put it in perspective, the inciting incident in The Godfather occurred after 45 minutes) This movie felt a little different. I wasn’t drawn to the movie by the story, or the spectacular effects, but rather, by this… creepy blonde chick.

Madness?!?! This is Short Circuited!

Filed under: Comic, Movieslsun @ 2:09 pm

Alright, fine. I appologize for the cliche title, but I’m sure I’m not the only person who’s excited to see this movie. I mean, with two hours packed with non-stop angry screaming, bloodshed, and gore, it’s hard to imagine anyone with half an ounce of testosterone would pass up on. (ok, fine. medically speaking, half an ounce would probably kill you)

To be honest, though, from everything I’ve read about 300, I’m not going to expect anything more than a piece of eye candy. A very beautiful, bloody… and borderline homoerotic piece of eye handy, but nevertheless a great experience.

On a different note, What better way is there to end my post drought with a comic. I would like to point out that I’ve slaved day and night for countless weeks to bring this to you. I hope you enjoy it.
