There are some good reasons I don’t participate in twitter. The users themselves provide the reasons:

There is just so much wrong with this. Lack of thought, insight, the list goes on. And this was after 5 minutes of randomly clicking around people’s tweets. Let’s be serious: I rather read youtube comments, at least those have up-voting so you can just see the good ones at the top of the list.
Could just not follow the idiots. There’s some nice Twitter accounts out there.
It’s pretty much banter, also I think it gives people too much time to reply directly in a “conversation.” Though it can be a utility, depends on the realm of users; for anibloggers it’s kind of like this devolved thought-pot and/or personal social space, which isn’t to say it’s entirely bad, but there’s so much noise, a lot of which is completely irrelevant to fandom and blogging. In some ways it’s not very different than #animeblogger, other than it being a more socially accessible (there’s an illusion of “friendly” I guess, where #ab is kinda shark-infested).
Also, I only pay attention to about 20 users, and often completely ignore the timeline. Helps me not get caught up in to much garbage.
I’m sure Daniel regretted that tweet many a time since. Equally certainly, I had many worse ones.
Can’t say I’ve regretted it once, though I’m a bit saddened no one really stepped up to explain why the personal is useful. On the plus side, it’s inspired me to find one of those Yes Minister irregular compounds: I am testing the limits of debate, you are being polemical, he is running his mouth off.
Twitter’s just a small blog. Based on SCIENCE, scientists have proved that, through science, another person just tweeted a tweet talking about how blogs are even stupider than twitter.
Obviously, one doesn’t get stupider on twitter than one does when you’re blogging. tl;dr: everybody’s stupid
everywhere
no matter what
and you can’t escape
you should follow me. i just tweet about random happenings, awesomeness or funny stuff to brighten your day.
