Via Zait who quoted from a comment on Kuro’s blog (meta meta meta):
Honestly, we felt it’d be a good chance for a.) to let the readers in on some of the fun b.) shine some light on newer, lesser known blogs.
I’ll just throw in my two cents:
- Fun? I guess some people are having fun (not meant to be sarcastic).
- More importantly, are these newer, lesser known blogs actually being exposed enough for people to visit? I didn’t see any blogs I haven’t heard about [1] make it to Round 2. Nor are there any “newer, lesser known blog highlights!” or such to give them the boost they’d need when up against the likes of whatever-the-fuck-Miao-is-calling-it-this-month or Tenka Seiha.
I just get the feeling it’s a straight-out popularity contest. It might be fun for the winners (a la those “Misscon”s we see in animu hurr) but what of the losers? Kinda lame.
On a tangent, I just realized that I found more blogs to add to my agg. feeds from OEG than ABA or the Aniblog Tourney. Weird.
[1] Pretty much every blog in Round 2 I’ve seen myself or via meta blogs.
I grabbed that OPML lelangir posted on THAT, plenty of blogs there.
After seeing your micro-post on it, I was tempted… but I have enough trouble keeping up with my 24 feeds (in total over all topics).
And doesn’t include the fact there are certain blogs I only enjoy reading when in the mood (Miao, etc.), so don’t put them on my feed.
From my experience and observations, too many incoming items can cause burn-out and result in a person ignoring everything, something I’m adamant to avoid (everyone’s saturation point is different, though).
Two notes:
– There is no e-mail address anywhere on the blog, so management-related traffic… has to go into comments?
– All new posts are not seen in the site feed… and the reason is, they are all added in the special category “micro”, which of course feeds into micro. Did you do it just to screw with us, or it was accidential?
Blame Ryan! But yes, you could say I was screwing with people.
There’s a full feed using Yahoo Pipes however upon reflection, I might re-integrate micro back into the primary feed but still keep them off the main page. More on this in a post, I guess.
I was thinking similar, and the reason for that is PuSH does not work through Pipes.
