Luna is an awesome character and remains important right up to the end of the series (she's not a one-book/movie hit). Luna's one of my favourite characters from the book, no wait, actually I'm pretty sure she is my favourite. She's very much like Osaka from Azumanga Daioh. If you aren't paying attention, you might think she's stupid, but that's not it at all. Her way of thinking is just so lateral to everyone else's that unless you're willing to take a step back from your everyday viewpoint what she says might go right over your head. Now that I think about it, Osaka and Luna both have a lot in common with Yotsuba. Which I highly recommend if you aren't familiar. You should read the books.
