The loonie is now 1 for 1 with the American dollar.

yet we still pay more for books.

But preaching aside, there actually is an explanation for why this is. Book-jacket prices aren’t actually based on converted values of one currency or another, but rather local market standards with annoyances such as duty factored into the mix. Or at least this is what a sign at a local Chapters said, and I’m inclined to think that the marketing division at Chapters knows a bit more about book pricing than I do.
