Post With Charts, Graphs, and PowerPoint Presentations

Filed under: Anime, Pointlesshikago @ 7:47 pm

Warning: This post is completely pointless.

The new season has started, but there are few gems within the plethora of shows. In fact, there aren’t any shows which have really captured a strong fanbase yet, but hopefully we’ll be in for some surprises much like how the Rangers managed to pull a clean sweep on Atlanta out of nowhere.

Speaking of sports, I’ve noticed it is rather rare for a male lead to have a strong sports background or be on a sports team in relationship based anime. Its actually rather common for one of the girls to be in a sports team, and of course we’re treated to the male lead cheering her on and she makes some crazy comeback into 1st place, but why not the other way around too? Maybe the male lead will pull his team through to a miraculous win or a playoffs spot like Chris Bosh did for the failing Raptors.

Not Chris Bosh.

Getting back to this season, there also seems to be quite a bit of controversy surrounding KyoAni’s Lucky Star. It seems people were expecting some Haruhi-type experience without even doing any background research into what Lucky Star was. Its a 4koma people. There’s no plot. Seriously. Anime doesn’t always need a plot to be good, Azumanga didn’t have one. Heck, having a plot can make a show worse - look at Shuffle, the premise was completely ridiculous and one could only really watch it for the fanservice (and then later on for the emo, yandere box-cutter girls).
Heres a graph to prove this. It took 9000 minutes in notepad to make :x

Insightful graph

I don’t see any correlation between plot and awesomeness, do you? There isn’t any correlation to be seen in other mediums such as games. Take World of Warcraft. Sure it had some interesting stories in it, but its hardly original with Sylvanas quite closely resembling Kerrigan, and what the hell is up with those space Dranei. Regardless, World of Warcraft was an enjoyable MMORPG which I no longer play; arena almost pulled me back in but the gear grind was still horrendous. I guess I rather spend my time /wristing over how imba scrin gets when they survive the tech to mass air instead of /wristing over playing 8 hours of AV to get a fucking dagger.

Honestly wasn’t this going a bit overboard?

FAIL.

But honestly anime characters really suck at suicide. Fortunately I made a PowerPoint Presentation to make sure people can do this right. SE101 (It’s Office 2003, by the way.)

And since I promised a chart here’s an excerpt from Digital Filters Third Edition [1] (I got lazy and only put up 3 out of the 16 lines:

A(db) α D
25 1.333 1.187
35 2.783 1.884
45 3.975 2.580

Table 9.3-1 Performance of I0-sinh window for equally spaced values of the attenuation.

And yes this has absolutely nothing to do with anime.

To end this off, Tamaki is hawt.

Classic. And yes, plot has no correlation with the popularity of the anime series. Look at Ninomiya. It’s popular, but it … doesn’t … really … have … plot …

  6. The reason most people play golf is to wear clothes they would not be caught dead in otherwise.
